AIP Supports Mangethe Media’s Gala Dinner Honouring Fraser Mtshali
The Association of Independent Publishers (AIP) is proud to support Mangethe Media in hosting a special Gala Dinner to honour the legendary Fraser Mtshali, a pioneer in South African journalism with a career spanning over four decades. The event will take place on 28 November 2024 at the prestigious Pencil Club, located in Umhlanga Arch, 1 Ncondo Place. Guests are expected to arrive at 17h30 for a prompt start at 18h00. The dress code for the evening is formal, with a striking Black and Gold theme.
Fraser Mtshali is a name synonymous with excellence in South African journalism. Over the course of his illustrious career, he has worked with some of the country’s most iconic publications, including Ilanga, Post, The Mercury, and Bona. He is widely respected for carving out a niche in arts and entertainment reporting, often producing scoops that became significant stories across local and national media. Beyond his remarkable reporting, Fraser is celebrated for his role in nurturing young talent, many of whom have gone on to achieve national prominence. His passion for mentorship and commitment to journalistic ethics continue to inspire new generations of reporters.
His publication, Phumelela Community Newspaper, is a shining example of excellence in community media. It recently earned recognition by winning the Best Front Page award at the 2024 Mzansi Community Media and Creatives Awards. Fraser’s contributions to journalism extend beyond the newsroom. His dedication to empowering future journalists and preserving the integrity of media practice has earned him accolades, including an award presented by Drakensberg Promotions under the auspices of the Department of Arts & Culture for his contributions to the arts.
