Zondo Commission and SANEF Reach Common Ground on Leaked Testimonies
The Association of Independent Publishers (AIP), welcomes the common ground reached by the Zondo Commission of inquiry into state capture and South African Editors Forum (SANEF).
The media was slammed by deputy chief justice Raymond Zondo for going ahead and published information that was yet to be heard at the inquiry as part of former Bosasa COO Angelo Agrizzi’s testimony.
The commission vowed to take action against publications that will publish evidence before it is heard at the inquiry. AIP urges its members to verify any information that could be used as part of the witness testimony with the commission before publishing to avoid any legal battles.
We are confident reporters and publishers will respect this commitment, and also urges for fair treatment towards all newsmakers from the commission.
