Rhodes University School of Journalism and Media Studies – Journalism Summit Report 2024

Earlier this year Rhodes University held a Journalism Summit. It looked at the roles and responsibilities of journalism education. It then expanded its mandate to look at the future of journalism in Africa. The Summit concluded with the signing of the Makhanda Declaration that reiterated – despite the financial and technology struggles – journalism’s commitment to ethics and holding the powerful to account.
