Veteran Eastern Cape Community Media Publisher Faces Threats and Intimidation over Investigative Reporting
The Association of Independent Publishers (AIP) condemns the escalating threats and harassment faced by veteran Eastern Cape publisher Andile Nomabhunga of The Informer. These acts, including death threats, intimidation, and unjustified legal actions, are direct attacks on press freedom. The intimidation stems from Nomabhunga’s fearless investigative reporting on critical issues such as drug-related violence and municipal activities. AIP stands in solidarity with Nomabhunga and calls for decisive action from law enforcement to ensure his safety and protect his right to report without fear or favour.
