Press Statement Ikwhezi Publishers’ Office Burned Down in Suspected Arson Fire – 30 April 2026

Ikhwezi Publishers’ offices were destroyed in a suspected arson attack. The Greater Kokstad Fire Department managed to extinguish the blaze, but the fire resulted in the loss of all office equipment, essential documents, and production materials. Evidence suggests the motive was a deliberate attempt to destroy the business rather than theft, as the remains of high-value equipment (a laptop) was recovered from the ashes.

A case has been opened with the South African Police Service (SAPS), and investigators are currently pursuing leads regarding a potential suspect seen near the premises shortly after the incident.
