Dunisani Ntsanwisi Named Manager/Publisher of the Year at 2025 Standard Bank Sikuvile Journalism Awards
Dunisani Ntsanwisi, publisher of Nthavela Titimuleni and a proud member of the Association of Independent Publishers (AIP), has been awarded Manager/Publisher of the Year at the 2025 Standard Bank Sikuvile Journalism Awards.
This recognition highlights Ntsanwisi’s dedication to growing community media and driving local journalism that informs, empowers and uplifts. Through Nhluvuko Media, his work has played a vital role in giving rural and township communities a voice, especially in indigenous languages.
The Sikuvile Awards celebrate excellence across all journalistic platforms, with entries benchmarked against the best in the industry. Winners are selected by a panel of highly credible and respected judges from across the South African media landscape.
Previously known as the Mondi Shanduka Newspaper Awards (MSNA), the event is now officially the Standard Bank Sikuvile Journalism Awards. It is organised by the South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF) — the country’s leading media freedom advocacy body. SANEF includes veteran and current editors, journalists, trainers, and academics from mainstream, regional, and community media.
Ntsanwisi’s win stands as a proud moment for community journalism, showing that quality reporting and strong leadership at grassroots level continues to shape the future of South African media.
