Google has launched the Global News Gap Project to support emerging digital-first news providers who focus on underserved topics or communities.
They’re looking for 300 digital-native news organisations or independent content creators who publish online (via websites or social media) with no print edition.
What You’ll Get if Selected:
- 2-year WAN-IFRA membership
- $10,000–$20,000 in AP data support
- Strategy support from FT Strategies
- Training from Google and Associated Press
Who Should Apply:
- South African digital-only news publishers
- Creators focusing on underreported issues or local communities
- Platforms active on social media or web
